Throughout the Celtic lands labyrinth relics have been found. Most people think of the labyrinth as a maze, however there is a difference. The labyrinth is based on the circle and is one well-defined path that leads to the center and back out again. It does not engage our thinking minds. There are no tricks, no cul-de-sacs, no wrong turns. It is universal, which sets it apart as a spiritual tool, representing the path everyone must take to achieve spiritual awareness. Labyrinths can be of any size. They were inlaid into the pavement of medieval European Cathedrals, carved on cave walls, dug into the turf of the countryside and carved on small hand-held stones. This labyrinth design is the ancient labyrinth, The Hollywood Stone, a pilgrimage stopping - place on St. Kevin's Road, near Glendalough, Ireland.
The labyrinth is a sacred path. It is a metaphor for our journey through life. It is a means of awakening us to the deep rhythm that unites us to ourselves and the to light that calls from within. It works through the imagination, the intuition, and the senses, creating an awareness of how we relate to the Holy. It is a tool for transformation, for change, a sacred meeting of psyche and soul, a field of light, a cosmic dance.
To use the small model, empty your thinking, rational mind as you do for meditating. Follow with your finger along the raised ridge to the center (not the depressed line), allowing and accepting whatever feelings arise along the path. Remain in the center for as long as you wish. Then follow the path back out to the edge.
Due to the hand casting and proprietary staining process, each of my plaques is unique. Each cross comes with a hanger embedded in the stone. The cross comes with a descriptive tag describing the original stone, explanation of the design or information on where the cross is located.
